Our role adapts to your requirement.
From straightforward supply and procurement to consultancy, specialist services and wider project support, our involvement is shaped around what you need.
How We Help in Practice
The requirement
Following the departure of senior members of the management team, an established infrastructure distribution business required experienced interim support to maintain day-to-day operations while a permanent manager was recruited.
Our role
Xpress provided consultancy and interim management support, initially three days per week before gradually reducing our involvement over a 12-month period. The role covered staff management, customer and supplier relationships, project delivery, commercial and accounting responsibilities and the general day-to-day running of the business.
Once a new manager was appointed, we supported the transition by introducing them to key customers and suppliers, providing knowledge of the business and helping develop the strategy for the next stage of its growth.
The outcome
The business maintained continuity throughout a significant management transition, with customers, suppliers, staff and ongoing projects supported throughout. Our involvement was then phased out as the new manager became established, providing a structured handover rather than an abrupt change in leadership.
The requirement
Our client was building a new server room and required support with the specification, supply and installation of the physical infrastructure. The requirement included five 47U server racks, power distribution, cable management, environmental monitoring and a dedicated rack earthing system.
Our role
Following a site survey, Xpress helped develop the requirement and supplied the racks, intelligent managed PDUs, temperature and humidity monitoring, cable management and associated accessories.
We also coordinated the installation, including positioning and baying the racks, installing the PDUs and environmental sensors, and providing a BS EN 50310 compliant earthing system with individual rack earth bars, bonding and continuity testing.
With approximately 50kW of equipment planned across the main server racks, we also considered airflow within the rack specification, incorporating brush strip cable entry, blanking panels and appropriate cable management.
During our survey we identified concerns with elements of the structured cabling already installed within the building. We provided the client with our findings and recommended that the cable specification and installation were reviewed with their main contractor before the project progressed further.
The outcome
The client received a coordinated server-room infrastructure package covering product supply, installation and technical support through a single point of contact. The completed solution provided the foundation for their new server environment, with managed power distribution, environmental monitoring, structured cable management and an appropriately designed earthing system.
The requirement
Xpress was invited to take part in a competitive tender for the supply of IT cabinets as part of a major infrastructure project for a financial services organisation.
The project was being managed by an external consultancy, with a detailed technical specification covering cabinet dimensions, airflow management, cable management, security, equipment mounting and earthing requirements.
Our role
Working from the consultant's specification, Xpress reviewed the requirement and worked with the manufacturer to develop a cabinet configuration that met the technical brief.
Following the tender process, we were awarded the supply package for 20 fully configured 47U 800x1200mm cabinets, together with the required cable management, airflow baffling, earth bonding, side panels, shelving and associated accessories.
We managed the procurement and coordination of the complete package. When the project programme was subsequently delayed by approximately 6–8 weeks, we also arranged storage of the completed cabinets until the site was ready to receive them, helping the customer accommodate the revised schedule without disrupting the wider project.
The outcome
Twenty project-specific cabinets and associated infrastructure were supplied as a coordinated package, with Xpress managing the requirement from specification and procurement through to storage and final delivery.
This gave our customer a flexible single point of contact for the cabinet requirement while allowing the consultant and wider project team to retain control of the overall design and installation.
The requirement
An NHS customer required a coordinated preventative maintenance programme covering critical infrastructure across two separate healthcare sites.
The equipment included UPS systems, standby generation, precision cooling, fire suppression, air-sampling and water-leak detection. Each system required an appropriate maintenance schedule alongside access to technical and emergency support.
Our role
Following a successful tender process, Xpress coordinated a tailored preventative maintenance programme using an established specialist service partner with the appropriate expertise across each discipline.
Maintenance frequencies were set according to the equipment and operational requirement, ranging from annual to quarterly scheduled visits. The programme also included access to 24/7 technical support, four-hour response cover for fault calls and room integrity testing for the fire-suppression systems.
Following each maintenance visit, findings and recommended actions were reported to the customer. Where faults, deteriorating components or other requirements were identified, we provided separate quotations and coordinated the approved remedial works.
The outcome
The customer had a structured maintenance programme covering multiple areas of critical infrastructure across both sites, managed through a single point of contact.
Scheduled inspections and clear reporting provided greater visibility of equipment condition, while subsequent remedial works allowed identified issues to be addressed as part of an ongoing support relationship.
